It has been discovered that a female zebra shark gives birth to her pups through parthenogenesis, also known as "virgin births."

The Shedd Aquarium in Chicago recently reported that a female zebra shark was able to reproduce some of her young by giving birth to "virgin babies"

According to a press release issued by the Shedd Aquarium, a study published in the Journal of Fish Biology focused on the zebra sharks born at the aquarium.
