After exploratory surgery on Von Miller's right knee, the team learned that the injury was worse than expected and the player would not be able to play in the playoffs.

General manager Brandon Beane described Miller's anterior cruciate ligament as "mostly to fully torn," so his season is over.

There was a full repair of the ACL that was performed, said Beane. "I am confident that he will be able to play in 2023."

After getting multiple opinions, Beane said Miller and the team decided to have arthroscopic surgery in part to find out the full extent of the damage.

"We thought it was a scope to remove the meniscus and scar tissue, but it wasn't stable enough when he went in yesterday," Beane said.

Miller is now expected to miss about nine months, rather than weeks, as Beane had hoped a week after placing him on injured reserve.

We care about Von, obviously, like we would any player, and this is a very unfortunate situation for him and our team, said coach Sean McDermott.

In terms of playing and being part of this team, we know how important this is to him. ... Certainly we're thinking of him during his recovery."
