True and Lillie Parker announced on social media that actress Kirstie Alley had died after a brief battle with cancer.

Alley was known for her Emmy-winning role on "Cheers" and films like "Look Who's Talking." Her Age was 71.

The family expressed their gratitude for the support she received from her close friends and family members during her battle.

Her notable roles include 1982's "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" and 1984's "Blind Date" along with Mark Harmon's "Summer School".

In 1987, Alley appeared on the acclaimed show as Rebecca Howe, a strong and independent bar manager.

She would appear in the final seasons of television's classic sitcom "Cheers" opposite Ted Danson in 1982, following Shelley Long into that role.
