Where is the originality going?
Have you noticed similarities in released movies, often even around the same time?
More and more movies pop up with too many similarities. Spoofs (like Scary Movie) are made to make fun of movies. That’s not what I’m talking about here. I’m talking about movies that mimic another movie, taking the idea and changing it just a little.
Look at the following list of mimics:
Transformers – was mimicked by – Transmorphers
Snakes on a Plane – mimicked by – Snaked on a Train
Abraham Lincoln Vampire Slayer – mimicked by – Abraham Lincoln vs Zombies
Disney’s Tangled – mimicked by – Tangled Up
Disney’s Up – mimicked by – What’s Up
Several movies have even mimicked poster art.
Armageddon by Deep Impact

Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters by Hansel and Gretel

The Land of the Lost by The Land That Time Forgot

Brave by Braver

The Princess and the Frog – by – the Frog Princess

And the biggest sham and offense….
Iron Man is being mimicked by a farce called Metal Man!!!

The list goes on and on…
Where’s the originality?
Sadly, creative law allows these mimics currently as long as there are differences. Sadly, one man’s originality can quickly be copied into a distorted vision of his original art.
Just because it is lawful, doesn’t mean that it is right.
Remember: Thou Shall Not Steal ?????
Come on creators, be creative!
