Each year, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences gets together to hand out awards for the best in the film industry. This is the famous Academy Awards ceremony where Oscars are handed out. Recently we here at Let There Be Movies posted our own list of the “BEST best pictures” in Academy Award history.
But there is another organization known as the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation that hands out “Razzies” celebrating the worst movies of the year. Well, we here at LTBM would like to offer to you our submissions for Worst Movies We Have Ever Sat Through! All of them make sense, but the last entry from Elliott Prasuhn may shock you!
Bachelorette: I just just watched Bachelorette last night. It had too many drug references and a lot of unneeded sex references. It also had no plot. But like the train wreck it was my wife and I couldn’t stop watching.
So bad it’s … bad.
MacGruber: I really enjoy MacGruber skits, especially the one with Charles Barkley (do yourself a favor and click here to watch it). But the movie was much like other SNL movies – a great idea for a 3-minute skit that gets stretched into 90 minutes. This movie reminds me of the guy you all know who definitely isn’t funny, but keeps trying. He is the guy who, back in your frat party days, just did whatever people told him so that he could get a laugh, desperate to impress. I think the movie had some potential, but when a serious actor like Ryan Phillippe walks around with his pants down and a stalk of celery sticking out of his derriere, you know you are in trouble. Very bad movie, with maybe one or two genuinely funny moments. Otherwise, very crass. Did Carrot Top write this?
Even MacGyver couldn’t fix this.
The Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: During a boring college night my roomy and a few other guys talked me into renting a VHS… Yes before DVDs were popular…. of what is supposed to be a cult classic. The concept is horrible. The puppet red faces on tomatoes is terrible. People lying around dead with tomatoes laying on top of them was worse. And the fact grown men would run screaming from a wobbling tomato coming after them should revoke their man card. I have seen bad movies… But I actually sat through this and thought I totally lost brain cells!
Cult classic? More like cult disappointment.
Open Water: No other words are needed. It’s THAT bad.
It’s like Blair Witch meets Jaws … and stops being entertaining.
Eragon: This was hard for me because I rarely sit down to see a movie unless I have a good suspicion I’ll like it. I’ve typically seen trailers, read some reviews and checked the ratings of any movie I decide to watch. That said, I’d have to say the worst movie I’ve sat through is Eragon from 2006. This movie was a victim of the novel-to-screen fad in the 2000’s that produced LOTR, Harry Potter and Twilight. Unfortunately this is a story that should’ve stayed in a book. Horrible acting from the lead role, lame bad guy minions, the main bad guy (John Malkovich believe it or not) is absent the whole film and we instead get his pathetic excuse for a right hand man. I’d like to think some better actors, more consistent direction and some up to date stunt-work and CGI could make this a decent book adaptation, but I doubt it. It was so bad, there wasn’t even a straight to video sequel made.
Wait … this was a movie? Where was I?
Gone with the Wind: At first I thought I wouldn’t like Gone with the Wind because it’s 4hrs long. Wow, was I wrong. What makes this the worst movie I’ve ever seen, is the main characters. She is a manipulative, selfish, and horrible person. He is a womanizer. They have many of the same terrible characteristics and are completely selfish. They both unfortunately live through the Civil War to produce a child whom they kill out of negligence. They fight constantly and finally he almost accidently kills her by knocking her down the stairs. She lives but then he leaves her and that is how the movie ends. These are just a few of the reasons this is the worst movie I’ve ever seen. Don’t ever watch this movie!!! You have been warned.
Are you even allowed to say this movie is bad?
