There is something I have just been dying to get off my chest: Cinderella is awesome. Disney heroines have certainly evolved over the decades—from waiting to be rescued by her prince (Snow White, Aurora from Sleeping Beauty), to going out to find (and potentially rescue) her prince (Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Tangled’s Rapunzel), to not needing a prince at all (Frozen’s Queen Elsa). Of course it is wonderful to see the stories told in animated films adapt with the times and provide admirable and independent heroines for young girls to look up to, but the downside is that we tend to look down on what came before.
We have some exciting news at Let There Be Movies! In an effort to always deliver the best movie reviews from a Christian perspective, we are welcoming any and all writers that would like to send us their movie reviews and become a guest writer at LTBM! We have recently added another writer to the fold and we’re very excited to include him in the LTBM family.
On our Guest Writers page you’ll find a bio for our latest guest writer, Tyler Smith. Tyler runs a movie review blog and podcast entitled More Than One Lesson. Tyler is a kindred spirit to LTBM in that he also reviews movies from a Christian perspective. I highly recommend Tyler’s podcast, in which he and colleague Josh Long publish episodes highlighting one movie and often contrasting it with another in order to compare similar traits. That comparison then leads to a solid lesson for Christian’s to think about when seeing these films. It’s a very interesting format and the friendship between Tyler and Josh is very evident as they’re often joking on each other and having fun with it.
Give Tyler’s podcast a listen and hop over to his blog and check things out. Come on back here later this week to see how Tyler breaks down a movie from a Christian perspective. We are excited to have him on board to write an occasional review for us!
