We’re coming up on three years running now of movie reviews from a Christian perspective here at Let There Be Movies. I know I don’t speak for myself when I say it’s been a little frantic and a lot of fun. We’ve all done our best to provide quality reviews and flesh out some spiritual, scriptural, or moral themes and applications in some of the most popular films of the last three years. Well, as the title suggests, we’re coming up on some BIG changes…
Beginning with the 2016 new year, LTBM will be no more! Let me pause for a moment and let you sit down. Okay, breathe… that’s not all. There is a very good reason we will no longer be posting content to this site. That is because we are officially merging with Reel World Theology!!! If that name sounds familiar to you, that’s because it probably is. Mikey Fissel is the creator and admin over at RWT and he has written a couple of guest reviews for us in the past. I (Gene) have written a couple of things for him as well, along with being on their podcast covering the recent Pixar film Inside Out. We could not be more excited to be joining forces with RWT, combining audiences to bring people greater quantity and quality when it comes to a Christian analysis of film.
So here’s what’s happening now. We will be wrapping up 2015 with a couple more reviews and one final list of our favorite material from these last three years. Then, from January 1 and on you’ll find myself, Nate, Amber, Elliott and Tres over at RWT continuing to review movies along with the crew there. At Reel World Theology you’ll find a lot of cool lists, weekly updates on what to watch streaming on Netflix and Amazon Prime, featured reviews on Dr. Who, and weekly reminders of what’s new in theaters. With our merger we will be bringing along our Moral Dilemma Dialogue feature as well as my episodic reviews of The Walking Dead.
But right now, what you need to do is head on over to Reel World Theology and bookmark it. Like right now. Every day of the week you’ll be getting new material of some kind. Secondly, hop on iTunes or whatever podcast catcher service you use, and subscribe to the Reel World Theology podcast. Mikey works hard to get three new podcasts up per month, and you’re just in time to check out all the new minisodes on the Star Wars films leading up to The Force Awakens. Thirdly (is that a word?) if you’re on Facebook and/or Twitter you need to like and/or follow them on each of those services. The RWT Facebook page posts regular updates including the daily materials on the site plus additional announcements on things like upcoming movies. We’ll be adding a bit of our flare on that as well with familiar posts like ‘Trivia Tuesday’ and ‘Screenshot Saturday’. And as for Twitter, be sure to follow them there as well.
So while we’re sad to be shutting the doors here, we’re very excited to move forward in this collaboration and bring you even better material than what you’ve become accustomed to here!
