The writers here at LTBM are kicking around a few ideas for some new features. Within the next few weeks you may notice an additional menu option titled “More than Movies” on our menu bar. We plan to introduce a couple of new features that will be different than our typical movie reviews, lists and rants. The great part is, we could use your help and/or feedback on these features!
For the last 20 months we’ve reviewed movies from a Christian perspective, produced some interesting lists, and ranted about some more specific things related to movies which we are interested in. Now, we want to broaden our scope slightly to include the following new features:
Interviews: Most of us are mid-westerners, and so we aren’t very close to the “action” coming out of Hollywood, or the actors and actresses gracing our big screens. Thankfully, bringing Amber on board has broadened our horizons in that regard. Amber lives in Los Angeles and has some friends and additional access to Christians who are working in the entertainment industry. On about a quarterly basis she plans to conduct interviews with fellow Christians working at some level or another to create the art forms we likely view on a daily basis. This will not be limited to movie production, but we’ll include authors, musicians, artists, etc. If you have anyone in mind you would like to see us interview, please provide their name, or your own contact information, in the comments below.
Television Reviews: We’ve limited ourselves thus far to the review and analysis of movies only. There is certainly no lack of material to look at from a Christian perspective in this field, but more and more we’re seeing television shows carry deep story-lines and character arcs across multiple seasons. Particularly among shows that are 1-hour episodes, each one is more like a miniature film. We have limited availability due to time commitments elsewhere, but we will be taking on a few television shows to produce regular reviews from a Christian perspective for each new episode within 36 hours of its airing. This will mean spoilers, so read with caution if you’re a regular viewer. If you have a show you’d like to see a Christian review on, or if you’d like to become a guest writer to review a TV show from a Christian perspective, please leave your information in the comments section below.
We’re very excited to begin these new features, and we hope it adds to the information you’re able to read here at LTBM, to encourage your faith and help you in seeing things through a Christian lens.
Sounds good!
